Zara Lennon recorded her 100th career win on her Senior Day
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Women's Tennis team (9-10, 4-5 Big West) downed UC Irvine (8-14, 4-5 Big West), 7-0, on Saturday at Rhodes Tennis Center as Zara Lennon led the way with her 100th career win on her Senior Day.
In doubles competition, the Beach had a tremendous start with Lennon and Sheena Masuda defeating Jessica Tsukiji and Alyssa Fossorier, 6-2. At the second flight, Nikola Homolkova and Peppi Ramstedt solidified the doubles point with their victory against Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico and Jenna Schlatter, 6-3.
The Beach controlled singles competition with Ramstedt winning over Dasee Carter 6-1, 6-0. Lennon quickly took down opponent Jessica Tsukiji 6-1, 6-2, while Homolkova followed with a victory against Gonzalez-Rico 6-3, 6-3.
Masuda defeated Schlatter 6-4, 6-2 in the third flight, while Redshirt Freshman Claire Le Du gave the team another singles point, winning 6-3, 6-4 over Alyssa Fossorier in the fourth flight. Zuzanna Szczepanska captured the final point of the match with her victory over Shreya Pavani 6-3, 6-2.
Next up for Long Beach State is the Big West Conference Tournament, which will be held at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif., from Wednesday, April 27 – Saturday, April 30. The Beach's seeding in the conference tournament will be determined following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday, April 24.
