No. 12 Long Beach State Ends Regular Season with Two Victories

The Beach won both duals on Saturday with a 5-0 win over CSUN and 4-1 over CSU Bakersfield.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 12 Long Beach State (19-12) closed out their regular season with a pair of victories over CSUN and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday. The Beach swept the Matadors, 5-0, and followed it up with a 4-1 win over the 'Runners.
Against CSUN, every flight was won in straight sets except for the one's. Claire Newlander/Nicci Reinking stayed red hot in flight four with a 21-13, 21-8 victory for the first point of the day. The duo of Holland Jackson/Kenzie Holtz secured the clinching point in the third flight.
The Beach held their senior ceremony prior to their second dual, honoring Alice Pratesi, Kenzie Holtz, Sophie Major, Claire Newlander, and Nicci Reinking as they played their final dual at the LBSU Sand Courts.
After the ceremony, LBSU got back to business with a 4-1 victory over CSU Bakersfield. Katie Kennedy/Kenzie Holtz picked up the first point of the dual in flight number two while Christine Deroos/Sophie Major clinched the victory in the fifth flight with a three-set win.
Long Beach State ends the regular season on a four-match winning streak and winners of nine in their last 11 matches. They will be competing in the Big West Conference championships next weekend hosted by Cal Poly.
