No. 16 Long Beach Beats Santa Clara, Upsets No. 8 Stanford

The Beach finished their trip to Northern California with a 5-1 record.
STANFORD, Calif. – Coming off a Friday split, No. 16 Long Beach State ended their Northern California trip in style on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Santa Clara and a 3-2 win over No. 8 Stanford. The Beach returns home with wins in five of their six matches up north.
In the Beach's first dual of the day, they came out with their fourth win of the trip. Katie Kennedy/Sydney Stevens made quick work in flight number two for the first point of the day. Christine Deroos/Sophie Major secured the dual with a fifth flight victory as Long Beach State went on to win, 4-1.
The second match of the day went down to the wire with Long Beach State claiming the dual in the fifth and final flight. In that fifth flight, the duo of Skyler Germann/Alice Pratesi fell in the first set but bounced back to take the second. In a back-and-forth third, the Beach came out on top 15-12 for the 3-2 dual victory
The Beach is back in action next week in a return to the LBSU Sand Courts. They will host Pepperdine on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
