Women’s Golf Places Three In Top 10 After First Day At Big West Championships

Sophomore Hannah Ko tied for sixth leading the way after the first of the rounds in San Luis Obispo.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Sophomore Hannah Ko led a trio of Long Beach State golfers in the Top 10 of the Big West Championship after the first day of competition from the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
 
                Hannah Ko was once again a model of consistency, finishing the day in a tie for sixth place overall with a 74 while parring 16 holes, the most of any golfer in the field. Vanessa Richani and Angelina Kim were each two strokes behind Ko with 76, as the trio paced the Beach to a tie for fourth place overall on the day.
 
                Hunter Pate was the other counting score for the Beach, carding a 79 while Chloe Carraway shot an 81 on the opening day.
 
                Hawai'i leads the championship after one round, followed by the hosts Cal Poly and UC Riverside. The Beach matched Cal State Fullerton with a score of 305 on the day.
 
                Long Beach State will once again be part of the second group on the course, and are scheduled to tee off at 8:20 a.m. on Monday for the second round.
