No. 14 Beach Volleyball to Compete in Battle for L.A. Invitational

The Beach will play at UCLA on Saturday and at USC on Sunday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Beach Volleyball is will look to keep their momentum rolling this weekend at the Battle for L.A. Invitational, hosted by UCLA and USC. The Beach will play four matches in two days, with duals against No. 2 UCLA, No. 11 Cal Poly, No. 8 Stanford, and No. 1 USC.
All four matches can be followed via live stats at beachlivestats.com. The duals at USC on Sunday will be live stream on pac-12.com
Long Beach State and UCLA will play at 12pm on Saturday followed by the dual against Cal Poly at 3pm. They close out the weekend against Stanford at 10am Sunday and a rematch with the Trojans at 2pm.

ABOUT THE BEACH
- Long Beach State remain at No. 14 in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
- The Beach are off to a 1-3 start to their 2022 campaign after a dominant win over No. 16 Stetson before falling to No. 4 Loyola Marymount earlier this week.
- Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi were paired up in the first flight on Tuesday and went a perfect 2-0 against the Hatters and Lions. Emily Mattoon and Jillian Rodriguez also went a perfect 2-0 in the tri-dual in the fourth flight.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- Long Beach State continues their string of facing top 20 teams with four more duals this weekend, three of which are top 10.
- The No. 2 ranked Bruins enter the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record, including three top ten victories on their resume already. The Beach trails in the all-time series, 8-4, and have lost the last eight meetings.
- Big West foe, Cal Poly, enters the weekend with a 1-3 record after a tough opening weekend. LBSU leads the all-time series, 8-4, but have not defeated the Mustangs since the 2019 season falling in three straight.
- The Cardinal are 2-2 to begin their season, including a win over then No.10 Hawai'i. In the all-time series, Long Beach State leads 4-1, but Stanford came out on top in their last meeting in the 2021 season opener.
- The reigning champion Trojans have already faced the Beach this season winning the season opener, 5-0. LBSU is now 5-11 all-time against USC and has lost the last 10 meetings.
