No. 15 LBSU Picks up Three More Wins on Day Two of Big West Challenge

The Beach ends the weekend at Rosie’s Dog Beach with a 5-1 record.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 15 Long Beach State (7-9) won three of their four matches on Saturday to finish the Big West Challenge at Rosie's Dog Beach. Their five wins on the weekend was the most of the conference schools.
In the first dual of the day, the Beach battled against No. 9 ranked Hawai'i but ultimately fell three sets to two. Nicci Reinking/Claire Newlander won the fourth flight in straight sets to pick up the first point while Sydney Stevens/Katie Kennedy won the second flight in three sets for the second point. The three's were the deciding factor with the 'Bows taking it in extra points of a third set.
The Beach would bounce back for a sweep of Sacramento State, only dropping a single set. They would keep it rolling with a 4-1 win over CSU Bakersfield. Against the 'Runners, all four points were won in straight sets including a dominant performance from Jillian Rodriguez/Emily Mattoon in flight number three.
The day ended with a sweep of CSUN as the Beach only dropped one set in the dual. The duo of Haley Carrington/Leah Black dominated the five's, 21-12 and 21-11 for the first point of the match.
