Long Beach State is back in action as the team hits the midway point of the spring season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf continues the spring season with its third event, taking part in the 2022 Fresno State Classic hosted by Fresno State at the Belmont Country Club. The teams are scheduled to play two rounds starting on Monday, March 21 with a final round on Tuesday, March 22.
Long Beach State will have two more tournaments to help prepare for the upcoming Big West Championships, and the Fresno State Classic will serve as a great benchmark, as the field will include seven of the 11 Big West Conference teams among the 15 teams competing.
From the Big West Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Hawai'i, UC Davis, UC Irvine and UC Riverside will all be participating, while the field will be filled out with Boise state, Cal, Nevada, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Washington State.
Sophomore Hannah Ko will lead the lineup for Long Beach State after a strong return to competition. Ko was the low scorer for LBSU at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, and had the second-best finish in her first tournament back at The Gold Rush.
Angelina Kim will take over the second spot after finishing the Top 20 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational as well. Kristina Ponomareva and Vanessa Richani will play third and fourth respectively for the Beach.
Long Beach State will complete the lineup with sophomore Chloe Carraway. Caraway has missed the last two tournaments due to injury, but was consistently a top two finisher for the team in the fall and are hoping for a strong return for the Tustin, Calif. native.
Long Beach State has had a tradition of success at the Fresno State Classic. The 2013 team champions, the Beach has been the home of three medalists at the event, which was first held in 2005.
