Long Beach State opens up the spring calendar with the 10th edition of their home tournament.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf returns to action on Monday, hosting the 10th edition of The Gold Rush at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.

Long Beach State will host the tournament for the first time since just prior to the start of the pandemic in 2020, and welcomes in a tremendous field for the event.

"I am extremely excited to be hosting The Gold Rush," said head coach Alyssa Waite. "It's definitely a privilege to be able to host a tournament so close to our campus in the winter. We have a very good field participating and it's going to be a fun tournament."

Defending champions of the Golf Rush, USC, are returning to the event as are 10 players from UCLA, representing two teams. Additional competitors are coming from Cal State San Marcos, Fresno State, New Mexico State, Northern Illinois, Pepperdine, Sam Houston, Wyoming and a pair of Big West foes in Hawai'i and CSUN.

Sophomore Angelina Kim will head up the lineup for Long Beach State, who returns to competition for the first time since The Clash at Boulder Creek in late October. "We've been examining some swing changes over the past few months, and Angelina has put in a ton of work," noted Waite. "She's ready to knock off the rust and we're excited to see what she can do."

Junior Hunter Pate will play second, after a consistent fall that saw her finish in the team's Top 3 in three out of four tournaments. Sophomore Vanessa Richani, who was the top finisher for the Beach at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic will be third, and true freshman Kristina Ponomareva will play fourth.

Hannah Ko, who was forced to withdraw at the Aggie Invitational and missed The Clash at Boulder Creek returns to action to round out the lineup for Long Beach State.

"We're happy to come together and compete again. Over the course of the tournament, we're looking to put our best foot forward moving into the spring," added Waite.

Live scoring for the tournament will be provided via Golfstat at https://results.golfstat.com//public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=24176.
