Vernoy Improves Weight Throw Mark in Victory at BYU

Senior Charlie Vernoy continued his stellar indoor season in Provo, Utah on Friday.
PROVO, Utah – Senior Charlie Vernoy represented the Beach well on Friday morning as he set a new lifetime-best in the 35-pound Weight Throw at the BYU Invitational II.
Results
The throws captain entered the day with the 13th best weight throw mark in the nation at 71 feet, 10 inches but ended the day ranked number 10 in the nation at 71 feet, 11.5 inches.
The Ventura native cruised to victory with his first round throw of 21.06m (69'0.25"), but outdid himself in his fifth round with the 21.93m (71'11.5") throw. He still ranks second on Long Beach State's all-time list for the event.
The final day to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship is this Sunday, February 27. Once that list is finalized, the top sixteen in each event will compete at the national championships in College Station, Tex. on the weekend of March 11-12.
