Vernoy Finishes 13th at NCAA Indoor Championships

Senior Charlie Vernoy improved on his NCAA rank at the championships.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Charlie Vernoy finished his indoor season with a thirteenth place finish in the Weight Throw on Friday. With the finish, he earns a Second Team All-American selection.
The Ventura native posted a throw of 20.46m (67' 1.5") in his first attempt of the day. He improved on that mark with his second throw, launching the 35-pound weight, 21.03m (69') for his best throw of the day.
Vernoy's thirteenth place finish is the highest placement at the NCAA Indoor Championships by a Beach athlete since Matt Maldonado finished twelfth in the men's Mile back in 2012.
With the Second Team selection, he is the seventh Long Beach State student-athlete to earn indoor All-America honors in program history.
The senior finishes his indoor career second on LBSU's all-time Weight Throw top ten with a mark of 71 feet, 11.5 inches.
