Vernoy Set to Compete at BYU Invitational II

Senior Charlie Vernoy will represent the Beach in Utah tomorrow.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior throws captain Charlie Vernoy will be the lone Beach competitor in action this weekend as he heads to Utah for the BYU Invitational II.

The Ventura native will be competing in the 35-pound weight throw as he looks to secure a spot in the NCAA Indoor Championships next month. The event is scheduled to begin around 10:15 a.m. PT.
He currently ranks 13th in the nation after setting a new stadium record at The Podium for the MPSF Indoor Championships last weekend. His mark of 21.89m (71' 10") in the event also ranks second all-time in Long Beach State history.
Because of his historic performance in Spokane last weekend, Vernoy went on to earn the MPSF Men's Athlete of the Meet after earning 18 individual points in his two events.
