LONG BEACH, Calif. – The duo of Lena Silano and Maddy Perez were named All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday. Silano was a First Team selection while Perez was named to the Third Team.
In her final year with the Beach, Silano made even more history on the pitch etching her name all over the program record book. Most notably, her five multi-goal matches is the most in Long Beach State history and her 16 goals on the year tied the record for most goals scored in a single-season. She also registered the third most points in single-season history with 38. In the statistical rankings for all of NCAA, she ranked top ten in goals, goals per game, points, and points per game. For her career, the Agoura Hills native finishes with the most multi-goal efforts (8), fifth most game-winners (10), seventh most goals (27), and seventh most points (64) in Long Beach State history.
Silano's First Team selection is her second All-West region honor after being a Second Team honoree last year.
Perez continues to add to her accolades list in her sophomore year at Long Beach State after leading the defensive efforts this past season. The West Covina native led the team in minutes for the second consecutive year, playing all but 16 minutes in the team's 21 matches. A staple on the backline, she was named First Team All-Big West as well as among the finalists for the Defensive Player of the Year. She also made an offensive impact this year recording two goals and three assists ranking fifth on the team in total points.
This is the first All-West Region honor for Perez, who has already garnered two All-Big West First Team selections and Freshman of the Year.
The Beach has now had multiple All-West Region selections in three of the last four years the awards have been handed out.
