Long Beach State Sweeps Big West Weekly Awards

Cherrie Cox, Aurora Schuck and Taylor Bellotti earn Big West weekly honors after the Beach complete a 2-0-0 road trip
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Following a perfect road trip that kept Long Beach State unbeaten to begin the 2026 season, the Beach swept the Big West weekly awards as Cherrie Cox was named Offensive Player of the Week, Aurora Schuck earned Defensive Player of the Week and Taylor Bellotti collected Freshman of the Week honors.
Cox earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after delivering the first hat trick of her career in the 5-0 victory at Fresno State. With Long Beach State leading 2-0 at halftime, Cox scored three times in a span of 17 minutes in the second half, finding the net at 49' and 57' before completing the hat trick on a penalty kick at 66'.
The six-point performance established a new career high for Cox, surpassing her previous best of five points, while her three goals also set a career high. It was the first hat trick by a Long Beach State player since Aug. 19, 2023.
Schuck repeated as the Big West Defensive Player of the Week after recording two more shutouts on the road. The senior goalkeeper played all 180 minutes against Fresno State and New Mexico State, making six saves without allowing a goal. Schuck made three saves in each victory, extending her season-opening scoreless streak to 360 minutes. The two clean sheets also increased Schuck's career total to 14 solo shutouts at Long Beach State.
Bellotti completed the sweep by earning Rookie of the Week after scoring the first goal of her collegiate career during the victory at Fresno State.
Just 1:03 into the match, Radisson Banks carried the ball up the left side from midfield before finding Bellotti, who struck from outside the box to give the Beach an early 1-0 advantage. The goal ultimately stood as the game-winner, giving Bellotti both her first collegiate goal and first career game-winning goal.
Bellotti started both matches on the road trip and has now appeared in all four contests with two starts during her first collegiate season.

Long Beach State returns home unbeaten at 3-0-1 with an 8-0 scoring advantage over their opponents through the opening four matches of the season.
