
Jasmine Leovao Remains In First Place At Aggie Invitational

Leovao was under par for the second straight day and leads the tournament entering the final round.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Freshman Jasmine Leovao was under par for the second straight day at the Aggie Invitational, shooting a two-under 70 on Tuesday to hold a one-stroke lead entering the tournament's final day tomorrow.
A true freshman competing in her second tournament for Long Beach State, Jasmine Leovao started the day in the tournament lead, and used birdies on 15 and 16 to hold on to the top spot on the leaderboard on Tuesday. She has a one stroke lead over Sarah Bell from Oral Roberts at 7-under par through two rounds, and is two strokes in front of Lion Higo from Pepperdine in third place.
Junior Hannah Ko also had a strong finish to the day, with birdies on 17 and 18 helping the veteran finish with an even-par 72 as Ko climbed up four spots in the standings to move into a tie for 12th place overall.
Sophomore Kristina Ponomareva and freshman Janae Leovao each shot a 74 in the second round as Long Beach State finished two-over par as a team on the day with a 290. Vanessa Richani rounded out the day for LBSU as she improved on her first round score with a 77.
The hosts, New Mexico State, made a charge to take the lead in the team competition, and are one stroke ahead of Pepperdine in second place and just three strokes ahead of the Beach in third, as those three teams will compete for the championship in the final round.
