Women’s Golf Places Two In Top 10 At Aggie Invitational

Jasmine Leovao, Hannah Ko both in the Top 10 as Long Beach State takes third in the 15 team field.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Long Beach State had three of five players finish even par or lower on the final day of the Aggie Invitational as the Beach finished in third place in the 15-team field, ending up behind only the defending champions Pepperdine and the hosts, New Mexico State.
Hannah Ko had the low round of the day for Long Beach State, a one-under par 71 as the junior picked up a stroke each round, finishing in 10th place overall at even par for the tournament.
Freshman Jasmine Leovao ultimately finished in third place overall in the best tournament of her young career after shooting 3-over for a 75 on Wednesday after previous rounds of 67 and 70. She was four strokes behind the individual medalist, Sarah Bell of Oral Roberts.
Janae Leovao finished the tournament with an even par 72, as did junior Vanessa Richani as the two had their best rounds to close out the tournament. Leovao was in a tie for 23rd overall, while Kristina Ponomareva was one shot behind for the tournament at 221 after a 74 on Wednesday.
Long Beach State will take a two-week break from competition before finishing off the fall schedule by participating in The Clash at Boulder Creek, hosted by Northern Arizona. The three-day tournament will run from October 23-25 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
