Anderson,Vernoy to Compete at University of Washington Invitational

The Beach track and field team is traveling to Seattle, Wash. to compete in their second meet of the season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State track and field team continues their indoor season this weekend as they compete in the University of Washington Invitational. Only two individuals will be competing for the Beach with their events taking place on Friday afternoon.

Joseph Anderson will be the first of the LBSU duo to compete as he runs in the 60m High Hurdles. The preliminaries at 3:20 p.m. and the finals will be at 4:45 p.m. A junior transfer from Oregon, he will be making his Long Beach State debut in Seattle. He owns the ninth best time in Ducks' history with a lifetime best of 7.86.
The other competitor this weekend is senior Charlie Vernoy, who will compete in the 35-pound weight throw. The trials and finals happen consecutively, beginning at approximately 5:00 p.m. In the same event during LBSU's opening weekend, he launched the second best throw in program history (67'1.25") on his way to his first victory of the 2022 season.
Among the teams competing with Long Beach State are UC Davis, BYU, Oregon State, Seattle U, Utah
State, Fresno Pacific and host Washington.
Last weekend, Long Beach State competed at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado in their first indoor meet since the 2020 season. They shattered records on day one of their 2022 season, posting six top ten marks in the all-time indoor record book and had four individual victories on day two which led both the women's and men's team to finish third place in the team standings.
Saturday provided the weekend highlight as Crystal Washington flew 12.22m (40'1.25") to not only win the event, but also set the school record for indoor Triple Jump. The mark surpassed the previous best set by Miia Mobley back in 2010.

Fans 12 and older must show proof of vaccination in order to attend, and are required to wear masks at
all Husky athletic events. Admission is free to those 12 and under, general admission is $10.
