A brief final day saw the Beach finish in a tie for 15th place overall.
WOLCOTT, Colo. – Following a three-hour rain delay on Tuesday, organizers of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic elected to cut the tournament to 36 holes, finishing the second and now final round of the tournament early Wednesday morning.
That meant an extremely short day as Long Beach State had only three holes total to play Wednesday. Chloe Carraway and Angelina Kim had finished their rounds Tuesday, and Hunter Pate, Hannah Ko and Vanessa Richani each only had Hole 9 at the Red Sky Golf Club to complete.
Richani ended up with a 74 in the second round and was the low scorer for the tournament for Long Beach State, finishing in a tie for 34th overall. Carraway also finished in the Top 50 after a pair of 75s, and Ko rounded out the top three for Long Beach State.
As a team, the Beach finished in front of a number of their regional competitors including Cal State Fullerton and San Diego State, while ending up in a tie with their hosts for next week, New Mexico State.
The Beach will close out a busy three-week stretch to open the season with one more tournament next week. Long Beach State will take part in another three-day tournament, heading to Las Cruces, N.M. to take part in the Aggie Invitational hosted by New Mexico State on their campus golf course. Action is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 4 with the first round.
