Strong Start Sees Women’s Golf In Seventh Place After First Round Of Aggie Invitational

Long Beach State in good position after the first of three rounds in Las Cruces.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Long Beach State had a solid first day to open the Aggie Invitational, holding 7th in the 20-team field after the opening day of the three day tournament hosted by New Mexico State on their campus course.
Sophomore Hannah Ko finished the day just outside of the Top 10 with an even-par 72, the low score of the day for Long Beach State who finished the day 7-over par as a team with a 295.
Junior Hunter Pate shot a 73 to sit in a tie for 21st overall, while Chloe Carraway and Angelina Kim had matching 75s on the day to keep the Beach within striking distance of the Top 5 after the opening day. Vanessa Richani rounded out the day with a 77.
Freshman Kristina Ponomareva also impressed in her first competitive collegiate round. Playing as an individual, Ponomareva finished with an even-par 72, equaling Ko for the best round on the day of the Beach contingent.
