Women’s Golf Continues Busy Early Season With Third Tournament In Three Weeks

The Beach will take part in a 20-team field at the Aggie Invitational In Las Cruces, N.M.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf will compete in a third tournament in as many weeks starting next Monday, taking part in the Aggie Invitational hosted by New Mexico State on their campus course in Las Cruces, N.M.
With one round each over three days starting on October 4, the tournament will have a large field of 20 teams competing. The Beach will see a number of familiar foes including a trio of Big West schools in CSU Bakersfield, UC Irvine and UC Riverside. The remainder of the field includes Boise State, Dixie State, Incarnate Word, Montana State, Northern Arizona, North Dakota, Santa Clara, Seattle, Southern Utah, South Dakota State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UTA, UTEP and UTRGV in addition to the hosts, New Mexico State.
Sophomore Vanessa Richani will lead the lineup after coming in as the low scorer for the Beach last week at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. Richani has put up three straight rounds of 2-over par or better in the last two tournaments, and will have the top spot in the lineup.
Fellow sophomore Chloe Carraway will hold the second spot in the lineup after finishing in that spot in each of the first two tournaments among the Beach players, while Hannah Ko will play third as she continues her consistent play after returning to action this season.
Hunter Pate and Angelina Kim will round out the scoring lineup for the Beach in New Mexico.
Kristina Ponomareva will also make her collegiate debut next week. A freshman from Krasnogorsk, Russia, Ponomareva comes to the Beach with an extensive junior golf resume in Europe. The former Russian Open Amateur Champion will get her first action while competing as an individual at the Aggie Invitational.
