Hunter Pate Leads Long Beach State Women’s Golf After First Day Of Golfweek Red Sky Classic

Long Beach State’s lone upperclassman closed the day under par with a one-under 71.
WOLCOTT, Colo. – Junior Hunter Pate is in the Top 25 of the 105 player field at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, closing out the first of three days at the Red Sky Golf Club as the low scorer of the day for Long Beach State.
The Beach was comfortably in the middle of a strong field at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic after one round, 5-over par for the day to sit in a tie for 13th among 20 teams and within five strokes of eighth place.
Pate led the way individually for the Beach. Capitalizing on an incredible stretch in the middle of her day with five straight birdies, ultimately closing the day with a 71. Sophomore Vanessa Richani continued her strong start to the year with a one-over par 73, finishing the day in a tie for 42nd overall.
Long Beach State's low finisher from the first tournament, Hannah Ko, was one stroke behind that with a 74 in a tie for 51st, while Chloe Carraway and Angelina Kim rounded out the LBSU lineup with scores of 75 and 76 respectively.
