Women’s Golf Continues Busy Opening Weeks At Golfweek Red Sky Challenge

The Beach will play in three tournaments in three weeks to open the fall season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf is headed to Vail, Colorado to compete in one of the nation's premier fall tournaments, the Golfweek Red Sky Challenge. Held at the Red Sky Golf Club, the tournament features another large field with 17 competing teams.
The competitive field features a number of Western programs in Pepperdine, San Diego State, New Mexico State, Denver, Colorado, Northern Arizona, Washington State, BYU and Big West rival Cal State Fullerton. Rounding out the field are South Florida, Rutgers, Kennesaw State, Xavier, Central Arkansas, Dallas Baptist and Minnesota.
Coming off of a strong week in her return to action, Hannah Ko will play at the top of the lineup for LBSU in the second tournament of the year. Ko was the low scorer at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate last week for the Beach, finishing in a tie for 21st overall.
Next will be sophomore Chloe Carraway who was just one stroke behind Ko in Idaho, finishing in a tie for 25th. Fellow sophomore Vanessa Richani will look to continue her solid start in the third slot, while Hunter Pate will play fourth following a team-low 69 to pace the Beach on the final day in Couer d'Alene, while Angelina Kim will round out the five competing for the Beach.
As a team, Long Beach State matched the lowest round in the whole of the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate in their final round, a one-under par 283, one of just two under-par rounds in the 51 total team rounds of the event. The Beach will look to carry that momentum into their second tournament of the season this week. The Beach will then play a third tournament in three weekends, traveling to Las Cruces, New Mexico to take part in the Aggie Invitational.
Action from Colorado will begin early Monday morning on September 27. The second round will then be held Tuesday with competition wrapping up with a third round on Wednesday, September 29.
