Beach Women’s Golf Rises To 9th Place Finish In Opening Tournament

Long Beach State was one-under par as a team on the day, grabbing a share of the lowest round for the tournament.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – A strong start to the final day of the Coeur D'Alene Resort Invitational led to a fantastic team round for Long Beach State Women's Golf, who closed out the tournament with a final round of 283, one-under par on the day.
That round was tied with the hosts for the lowest team round of the tournament. Leading the way Tuesday, was junior Hunter Pate who had five birdies on the day and finished with a two-under par 69.
Sophomore Hannah Ko finished the tournament as the team's low finisher, tied for 21st overall with a final day 72 to close the tournament with a total score of 221. One stroke behind her for the tournament was Chloe Carraway, who also finished under par on Tuesday with a one-under 71.
Sophomore Angelina Kim bounced back with a 72 on Tuesday, and Vanessa Richani was one stroke behind with a 73 and closed the tournament tied with Pate for third on the team, placed in a tie for 45th overall in the 93 competitor field.
Overall, the strong day lifted Long Beach State into a tie for ninth place with Nevada in the 17-team field.
Long Beach State will make a brief return home to Southern California before heading back out on the road in a busy start to the season. The Beach will take part in the Golfweek Red Sky Challenge over three days starting next Monday on September 27.
