The Beach heads to their first tournament under new head coach Alyssa Waite.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf will return to fall play for the first time since 2019 as the Beach travels to Idaho to compete in the Couer d'Alene Resort Invitational, hosted by Gonzaga.
The Beach features a fresh coaching staff as new head coach Alyssa Waite and assistant coach Katy Baxter lead a team with a lot of returning faces into their first competition.
In fact, all five golfers competing for the Beach at the Coeur d'Alene Invitational are returning golfers, though the team still has plenty of youth with just one player of upperclass eligibility.
An Honorable Mention All-Big West selection one year ago, sophomore Angelina Kim will kick off the lineup for Long Beach State. She'll be followed by fellow sophomore Chloe Carraway, while Long Beach State's lone junior, Hunter Pate will play third in the lineup.
Returning to action is sophomore Hannah Ko, who did not compete in 2020-21 and received eligibility relief for the prior 2019-20 campaign, but was a regular finisher near the top for the team in that season. Rounding out the lineup is sophomore Vanessa Richani.
Hosted by Gonzaga, the Beach has competed in every edition of the event, previously hosted in 2017, 2018, and 2019. This year's field will feature 17 teams from around the country, and run the course of three days with one round each day.
In addition to LBSU, two other Big West teams will play in the event in Hawai'i and UC Irvine. The field will also feature a number of western teams in Idaho, Nevada, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, Utah Valley and Wyoming along with the host Zags. Also joining the field are Creighton, Florida International, North Dakota State and Oral Roberts to expand the range of those competing in the kickoff tournament.
Action begins on Sunday, September 19 with the first round, and live scoring will be provided via Golfstat at http://results.golfstat.com//public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=23645.
