Lena Kotanchyan Repeats As All-American In 2021

Kotanchyan was an Honorable Mention Selection for the second straight season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Lena Kotanchyan was named All-America for the second straight season as the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced their national honors on Thursday.
A senior, Kotanchyan earned Honorable Mention for the second straight season after picking up the award following the shortened season in 2020, her first with the program. She was also named first-team All-Big West after another tremendous season with Long Beach State.
In 2021, Kotanchyan led Long Beach State with 25 goals and averaged 2.3 goals per game, best in the Big West on the year. She also added five assists on the year, leading the Beach in points on the season, and came up with multiple big moments in the year, including scoring two goals in the opening game win of the Big West Tournament against UC Davis.
In total, Kotanchyan is the 27th honoree from Long Beach State, and the sixth player in school history to earn multiple All-America selections in women's water polo. Kotanchyan was previously honored for her work in the classroom combined with her water polo accomplishments, being named the 2020 Big West Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Long Beach State.
