Live Results
IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State's Aaron Booth is currently pacing the field in the men's Decathlon with a dominant performance on Friday. The junior transfer leads the field with 3,946 points, marking a school record for most points at the end of the first day.
Booth started his day in the 100m Dash with a victory and finishing at 11-seconds flat, just shy of a personal best. He followed that up with victories in the Long Jump and the Shot Put before tying for the top spot in High Jump.
The other men's competitor for the Beach, Justin Yaskowitz, currently sits in seventh place. The true freshman shattered his personal bests in both Long Jump (6.46m) and Shot Put (10.47m).
Barnes ended the day in fifth-place in the women's Heptathlon. Her best event of the day came in Shot Put, posting a personal-best with an 11.22m mark.
Fune currently sits in eighth, but came out with a pair of second-place finishes. Her time of 14.66 was just seven-hundredths of a second behind the number one spot the 100m Hurdles to start the day. She followed that up with a 1.58m High Jump, just missing out on her personal best.
If Booth hangs on to the top spot, he will become the first Long Beach State individual Decathlon champion since 2014.
The remaining events of the Hepathlon and Decathlon will finish up tomorrow beginning at 11:00 a.m. The live results can be found HERE.
