LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State returns home with a five-game win streak as they host CSU Bakersfield at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field this weekend.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Dirtbags came out with their first sweep of the season after taking four games at UC Riverside. LBSU has now won five straight games.
• Johnathan Lavallee was the story of the series opener tossing the first complete game of his career, striking out a career-best 13 batters while walking none leading LBSU to a 4-0 victory.
• Game two saw another gem as Alfredo Ruiz tossed six shutout innings matching his career-high with 10 strikeouts as the 'Bags won 13-0 in seven innings.
• Game two of the doubleheader was all Dirtbags led by a five-hit game from Chase Luttrell, coming out with a 10-4 victory.
• Long Beach State closed out the sweep with a comeback victory, scoring 4 runs in the top of the ninth to win 8-7.
ABOUT THE DIRTBAGS
• The Dirtbags had a big weekend with their first series sweep of the season pushing their record to 18-13 overall and 16-12 in conference play. They have moved up to fourth in the standings.
• Long Beach State's offense continues to get better each week. Their .285 average is fifth in the Big West, .377 on-base percentage is fourth, and .440 slugging percentage is third. They are in a tie for third with 29 home runs this season.
• On the mound, the pitching staff had an absurdly dominant stretch and now rank fourth with a 4.34 ERA and second with a .237 opponent average. Their 272 strikeouts in conference games is second-most.
• Defensively, the Dirtbags rank sixth in Big West play with a .975 fielding percentage.
THE SCORELESS STRETCH
• The Dirtbag pitching staff had a tremendous run beginning at the end of the series against UC Irvine and went into the first two games at UCR.
• After three UCI runs scored in the first inning of game three, Long Beach State pitchers combined to throw 32 consecutive scoreless innings. That marks the longest stretch without allowing a run since the 2014 Dirtbags went 41 straight.
• Noble and Harrison combined for a shutout in the series finale at UCI, Lavallee tossed a CG shutout in game one at UCR, and Ruiz and Johnson combined for a shutout in game two. It marked the first time Long Beach State recorded three straight shutouts since the beginning of May, 2014.
• Over the 32 innings, opponents hit just .145 (16-for-110) with five walks and struck out 41 times against Dirtbag pitching.
SCOUTING THE 'RUNNERS
• CSU Bakersfield has shocked everyone this season as they sit in third place of the Big West standings at 18-13 overall and 15-9 in conference, despite being picked last in the preseason poll.
• The Roadrunners are coming off a sweep of Cal Poly last week.
• CSUB ranks middle of the pack statistically, slashing .285/.358/.398 on the year. Tyler Jorgensen leads the offense, ranking second in the Big West with a .390 average. The defending Player of the Week, Jacen Roberson has had the most pop, ranking second with a .617 slugging percentage.
• The 'Runner pitching staff sports a 5.16 team ERA allowing a .279 average to their opponents. Noah Cordova has made the bulk of his appearances out of the bullpen, but leads the team with a 2.91 ERA. Roman Angelo has the bulk of the innings with a team-high 42.2 innings, posting a 3.59 ERA.
• This will be the first time in program history the two teams meet.
