Track & Field Wraps Up Day Two at the Fullerton Spring Invite

The Long Beach State men’s team finished third at the Fullerton Spring Invite.

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Long Beach State outdoor track and field team finished up day two at the Fullerton Spring Invite with the men taking home a third place finish.

Day two of the Fullerton Spring Invite got started with the jumps as Porte Joie Tshiaba posted a third place finish in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.72m (22-0.75). It is the first time he has participated in the event this season.

In the high jump, Tshiaba stayed undefeated with his third win of the season. His mark of 2.16m paced the field by two inches and set a new personal best for the sophomore transfer. At seven feet and one inch, he now holds the seventh-best and eighth-best marks in school history.

Yaskowitz also scored a point-placement in sixth with a mark of 1.81m.

Sydney Barnes and Hailey Fune scored points for the women's side. Barnes' mark of 5.18m was good for fifth in the Long Jump while Fune's mark of 1.55m in the High Jump had her tied for fourth.

Fune also scored points in the 100m Hurdles placing fourth with a time of 14.84, a new personal best for the freshman.

Crystal Washington had the best Triple Jump of her career, posting a 12.11m mark en route to a dominant victory. The junior finished almost a full two feet ahead of the rest of the competition as she now holds the second-best jump in the conference. At 39 feet, 8.75 inches, she now holds the seventh-longest jump in school history.

Micayla Kelly also picked up a point-scoring position as her mark of 10.48m was good for sixth place.

As things switched over to the track, Justin Watterson picked up a point with a sixth-place finish. In his first time running the 110m Hurdles, the freshman posted a time of 15.24.

Anthony Palumbo and Faris Babineaux closed out the day in the 100m Dash with times of 10.91 and 10.94, respectively. They finished fifth and sixth adding to LBSU's point total.

The Beach will be back in action next week as they host their first event of the season with the Long Beach Invitational.
