
Long Beach State Claims Black And Blue Challenge

Holland Shourds had the low round of the day at two-over par.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Holding a seven-stroke lead after the first day, Long Beach State returned to El Dorado Park Golf Course and picked up two more strokes on UC Irvine on Thursday to take the win in the seventh Black and Blue Challenge.
With the event stretching over two days for the first time, the team scores carried over from yesterday in Orange County while the individuals would again play a 6 count 5 format towards that team score.
Long Beach State was led by senior Holland Shourds, who had the lowest round from either team with a two-over par 74. Yesterday's low scorer Angelina Kim shot a 75, as did freshman Chloe Carraway. Hunter Pate finished Thursday with a round of 76, while Vanessa Richani was the final counting score with a 79.
For the Anteaters, Maddie Riggs returned to action and had the low score for UC Irvine with a 75. The rest of the 'Eaters counting scores were bunched as the remainder of scores came in at 76 and 77.
A busy finish to the season continues on Monday as Long Beach State travels to Fresno to compete in the Fresno State Classic over Monday and Tuesday.
