Women’s Golf Off To Fresno State Classic Starting Monday

The tournament serves as the final tuneup before the Big West Championships starting April 19.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Coming off of a Black and Blue Rivalry Challenge victory last week, Long Beach State will face its final test prior to the Big West Championships at the Fresno State Classic on April 12-13.
Hosted by Fresno State at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, the three-round tournament starts on Monday with two rounds before concluding with a final round on April 13.
The field will feature six of the nine Big West teams competing in 2021, serving as a good warmup for the Big West Championship coming on April 19-21, as Cal Poly, CSUN, UC Davis, UC Irvine and UC Riverside will join the Beach in Fresno. The other teams in the 15-team field include Nevada, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Stanford, UTEP and the host Bulldogs.
Long Beach State's full squad of six will be making the trip. Angelina Kim will lead the lineup, while senior Holland Shourds will take the second spot for the Beach. Freshman Chloe Carraway will play third, followed by sophomore Hunter Pate and fellow freshman Khameryn Utu, whose strong play at the Black and Blue earns her a spot in the lineup. Vanessa Richani will play as an individual at the tournament.
The Beach has a strong competitive record at the event, claiming the team title in 2013 as well as three individual championships in 2005, 2007 and 2013.
