Women’s Golf Finishes First Day Of Fresno State Classic In Tie For Second

After two rounds, the Beach are tied with the hosts Fresno State and trail just Stanford in the 15-team field.
FRESNO, Calif. – As a team Long Beach State finished Monday's first round even par, and used that strong round to hold on to a share of second place after the first day at the Fresno State Classic.
Hosted by Fresno State at Copper River Country Club, Long Beach State got off to a fast start and held second place after the first round after shooting an even-par 288. The hosts were able to pull even with the Beach in the second round, and both teams finished the day at four-over par, trailing just Stanford in the 15-team field.
Both Angelina Kim and Holland Shourds wrapped up the opening day individually in the Top 5. Both closed the opening round 3-under par at 69, and Shourds was the day's top player on the long holes, ultimately going 5-under on par fives for the day. Helped by an Eagle on 10, Kim finished 3-under on the day in fourth place after an even-par second round, while Shourds was one stroke back in a tie for fifth after the second round.
Hunter Pate also shot under par on the day, shooting 71 in the second round to finish two-over par on the day, while Chloe Carraway was the team's final counting scorer in a tie for 43rd at seven-over par.
