Long Beach State Takes Fifth Place At Fresno State Classic

Holland Shourds and Angelina Kim both finished in the Top 10 for the Beach.
FRESNO, Calif. – Top ten finishes from Holland Shourds and Angelina Kim helped pace Long Beach State to a fifth place finish at the Fresno State Classic, the final tournament for the Beach prior to the Big West Championship.
Shourds shot a one-under par in the third and final round at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, finishing 3-under for the tournament and in a two-way tie for fifth place overall at the tournament. Freshman Angelina Kim also finished in the top ten, tied for 10th place at one-over par over the course of the tournament.
Sophomore Hunter Pate had the second-best score of the day for Long Beach State, a three-over par 75 to finish in a tie for 21st overall, while Chloe Carraway finished the counting scores for the Beach with a 234 for the tournament. Freshman Vanessa Richani, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 45th overall, 11-over par for the tournament.
Among the 15-team field, the Beach bested four of the Big West opponents. Stanford were the team champions while the hosts, Fresno State, took second place.
With the regular season concluded, Long Beach State will turn towards the postseason as the Big West Conference Championships will be held over three days beginning on Monday, April 19. The tournament will be held at Yorba Linda Country Club, with one round each day with the final round concluding on Wednesday, April 21.
