LAST TIME OUT
•   The Dirtbags won their first series of the season at UC San Diego winning 3 of 4 against the Tritons.
•   Thursday started with a bang as the Dirtbags posted 19 hits, 9 for extra-bases, backing Lavallee's six innings of one-run ball.
•   The bats stayed hot in the Friday doubleheader posting 16 runs in the split, including a 10-spot in the game one loss.
•   Noble was the storyline in game two of the doubleheader tossing 6.1 shutout innings while striking out 11 Triton hitters.
•   In the series finale, Long launched his second HR of the weekend to give the Dirtbags a 3-2 victory.

ABOUT THE DIRTBAGS
•   The Dirtbags were picked to finish second in the Big West Conference pre-season coaches' poll behind conference favorite UC Santa Barbara.
•   Long Beach State was forced to stay off the field during the pandemic, not getting a chance to play any fall ball and were not permitted for team practice until February 15. Because of that, they are one of two teams in the Big West that will play a 40-game conference-only schedule.
•   With three series of Big West play under their belt, Long Beach State sits in fifth with a .500 record at 6-6.
•   A very offensive weekend effected the numbers of the pitching staff a bit, they still rank second in both ERA (3.53) and opponent's average (.240). They have claimed the strikeout lead though, leading the Big West with 129 strikeouts as a staff.
•   The offense had a big weekend in La Jolla, notching 19 hits in Thursday's opener and 10 runs on Friday. As a team they rank seventh across the board slashing .264/.356/.406 at the plate. Their 12 home runs through 12 games ranks second.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
•   Cal Poly enters the weekend with an overall record of 14-10 and 4-4 in Big West play.
•   The Mustangs are coming off a non-conference series win over San Jose State, taking two of three against the Spartans at home.
•   In their conference action thus far, they went 3-1 against CSUN before dropping three games to UC San Diego.
•   The Mustangs are hitting .284 this season, led by Matt Lopez and his .427 season average. His .400 average in conference play ranks ninth while his .568 on-base percentage is third-best. Brooks Lee provides the pop, leading the team with six home runs, 30 RBI, and a .694 slugging percentage.
•   Cal Poly's pitching staff enters the weekend with a 4.65 team ERA overall, but a 6.39 mark in conference play. Travis Weston leads the rotation with a 2.58 ERA in 38.1 innings while Drew Thorpe has notched a team-high 47 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.
•   The Dirtbags lead the all-time series 94-56-1 against Cal Poly, but was swept in the 2019 series. LBSU has not defeated the Mustangs since game three of the series back in 2017, a six-game losing streak.
