Black And Blue Rivalry Challenge Returns For Women’s Golf

The rivalry match with UC Irvine will expand to two days this season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Long Beach State and UC Irvine are resuming the Black and Blue Challenge for the seventh year, a unique event featuring just the two local Big West programs.
In 2021, the event will expand to an extra day as each team will host the other. UC Irvine will take the duty first on Wednesday, April 7 at Tierjas Creek Golf Club, and then the Beach will host on Thursday at their home course at El Dorado Park.
Each team will send six players to the course each day, counting five in an agreement between the two teams. For Long Beach State, senior Holland Shourds will lead the lineup followed by freshman Angelina Kim and Chloe Carraway. Hunter Pate and Vanessa Richani will play together, while freshman Khameryn Utu will round out the squad for Long Beach State, playing with Shourds.
That duo will be matched with Sienna Lyford and Cameron Lee both days, while Kim and Carraway will play against Angela Bagasbas and Maddie Riggs and Pate and Richani will face Megan and Coco Yang.
Results will be available following each round at www.longbeachstate.com.
