No. 16 Long Beach State Set for Four Matches This Week

No. 16 LBSU will host No. 10 Pepperdine on Wednesday before heading to Northridge for a pair of matches against No. 9 GCU and a match against CSUN.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The No. 16 ranked Beach returns to California for four matches this week. The first will be back at the LBSU Sand Courts against Pepperdine. They will then head to Northridge, for a pair of matches against Grand Canyon and one against the host Matadors.
Wednesday's dual against the Waves will be the second matchup this season between the two teams with Pepperdine taking the first two. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
The weekend will begin on Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Grand Canyon. The Beach will play two more at Northridge on Saturday taking on the Lopes again at 1:00 p.m. and then Big West foe, CSUN, at 3:00 p.m.
The Beach is coming off three hard fought battles at Hawaii, going 1-2 against the Rainbow Wahine.
The first flight duo of Mari Molina and Tyler Spriggs continued their hot streak with a perfect 3-0 week. The pair is now winners of their last five duals and 12 of their last 14.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE
-The Waves are currently 7-12 on the season and sit at number 10 in the rankings.
-Pepperdine is coming off a 3-1 performance at the Arizona Invitational in Tuscon, picking up wins against Colorado Mesa, Missouri State, and No. 10 Grand Canyon.
-Pepperdine leads the all-time series 22-3, including a 3-2 win over the Beach earlier this season.
ABOUT GRAND CANYON
-The Lopes sport a 12-5 record on the year, but come into the week ranked number nine in the nation.
-Like Pepperdine, Grand Canyon is coming off a 3-1 performance at the Arizona Invitational with wins against UC Davis, Colorado Mesa, and No. 13 Arizona.
-The Beach leads the all-time series against the Lopes, 4-2, but lost the last matchup back in 2019.
ABOUT CSUN
-The Matadors are 9-9 on the season.
-CSUN was a perfect 4-0 last week with wins over Vanguard, Pacific, Concordia, and Saint Katherine.
-The Beach have never lost a dual against the Matadors, including a 5-0 sweep at The Challenge earlier this season.
