No. 15 Long Beach State Split Doubleheader with No. 16 Hawaii

The No. 15 ranked Beach won the first dual, 3-2, but would fall in the second, 3-2.
HONOLULU, Hawaii – No. 15 Long Beach State (11-9) split their two duals with No. 16 Hawaii (7-5) on Saturday. The Beach won the first match, 3-2, but fell in the second by the same score, 3-2.
Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi put on an impressive show with a dominant straight set win in the fourth flight to get the first point for the Beach.
After Hawaii responded with a win in the fifth flight, Katie Kennedy and Nicci Reinking took care of business in the second with a straight set win.
The Rainbow Wahine would take the third flight setting up a winner-take-all flight for the number one pairs.
Mari Molina and Tyler Spriggs jumped out to the early taking the first set, but could not mount a comeback in the second set. The flight and the match would come down to a third and final set where Molina and Spriggs took control and won it 15-10 securing the dual for Long Beach State.
The second dual started well as Emily Mattoon and Jillian Rodriguez picked up the first point for the Beach, taking the fifth flight.
Unfortunately, Hawaii would take the next three flights and secure the dual victory.
Molina and Spriggs continued their hot streak with a straight set win. The duo has now won five straight and 12 of their last 14 matches.
Long Beach State will play four matches next week starting with a home dual against Pepperdine on Wednesday.
