No. 16 Long Beach State Splits Saturday Duals in Northridge

No. 16 Long Beach State fell to No. 9 Grand Canyon, 3-2, but bounced back to beat CSUN, 4-1.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 16 Long Beach State (12-12) fell 3-2 in the rematch against the Lopes on Saturday, but bounced back to defeat the host Matadors, 4-1.
In the first dual of the day, the Lopes took the first two points with wins in the second and fourth flights.
Emily Mattoon and Jillian Rodriguez picked up the first point for the Beach in a straight set victory.
Makenzie Griffin and Kenzie Holtz would take the third flight in three sets. Unfortunately, GCU had already secured the dual at that point after taking the first flight.
In dual number two, it was all Long Beach State securing the dual straight away.
Skyler Germann and Katie Kennedy rolled through the second flight to pick up the first point with Mattoon and Rodriguez following suit right behind them.
Nicci Reinking and Tyler Spriggs got the match-clinching point taking the first flight in straight sets.
CSUN would avoid the sweep taking the fifth flight, but the Beach capped off the win with another straight-set win from Griffin and Holtz.
Long Beach State returns home next for their final duals at the LBSU Sand Courts. The tri-dual will happen on Thursday starting at 10:00 a.m.
