No. 18 LBSU Sweeps Both Duals on Senior Day

No. 18 Long Beach State swept both of their duals against Saint Katherine’s on Thursday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – On the day the team celebrated their seniors, No. 18 Long Beach State (14-12) came out with a pair of sweeps against the University of St. Katherine (0-4) on Thursday.
The Beach did not drop a single set in either match as every flight was won in straight sets.
All three LBSU seniors started in both duals led by Tyler Spriggs in the first flight. Paired with Nicci Reinking, the duo dominated never allowing more than 12 points in a single set.
Makenzie Griffin played in the third flight of the first dual with Kenzie Holtz. The duo picked up the fourth point of the match with a 21-12, 21-11 victory. In the second dual of the day, Griffin paired up with freshman Skyler Germann in the second flight picking up a dominant, straight set victory.
The third and final Beach senior is Madison Smeathers, who played in the fourth flight of dual one with Alice Pratesi and the third flight of the second dual with Sophie Major. Smeathers brought home the victory in both matches in straight sets.
The No. 18 ranked Beach is back in action next weekend for their final matches of the regular season. The team will head back to Northridge for a tri-dual with CSUN and CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, April 24.
