No. 15 Long Beach State Heads to Hawaii

No. 15 LBSU will head to Honolulu for three duals against No. 16 Hawaii.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 15 Long Beach State is set for their only trip out of California as they head to Hawaii for the three duals against the No. 16 ranked Rainbow Wahine.
The first match will be Thursday at 9:00 p.m. PT with the remaining two happening on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The third and final dual will be available to watch on Big West TV.
The Beach is coming off a very successful week last week where they went 7-1.
After a pair of sweeps to begin their week on Tuesday, the Beach drove up to San Luis Obispo for "The Challenge" hosted by Cal Poly. At the challenge, LBSU got off to a great start sweeping CSUN and taking down CSU Bakersfield, 4-1. While they ended day one with a loss to No. 5 Cal Poly, they bounced back the next day with a sweep of UC Davis before taking on the Rainbow Wahine.
Their week ended with an upset of then No. 10 Hawaii taking the dual 3-2. The match came down to the first flight where Mari Molina and Tyler Spriggs outlasted the Hawaii duo in a three-set battle.
Molina and Spriggs are now winners in 9 of their last 11 duals owning an 11-6 overall record this season. Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi continued their outstanding 2021 season going 5-2 last week and are now 12-3 on the year.
ABOUT HAWAII
-The Rainbow Wahine had a late start to the season, and their first week of action last week was a busy one going 5-4 in their nine matches. All four of their losses came against top 20 teams.
-After splitting four duals up in Davis, Hawaii went 3-2 at The Challenge in San Luis Obispo.
-UH leads the all-time matchup 15-6 and prior to last Saturday, had won seven in a row.
