Haddad, Brookshire Claim Big West Weekly Awards

The duo named Big West Pitcher, Player of the Week respectively.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State softball picked up two of the three weekly awards announced by the Big West Monday, as Suzy Brookshire was named the Player of the Week and Shannon Haddad named Pitcher of the Week after the Beach went 3-1 in four conference games last week.
Brookshire became the first player in the history of the Big West as well as Long Beach State to hit three home runs in one game, setting the record in a win over UC Riverside on Monday to start the week. The senior also hit a home run in the series with at UC Davis, finishing the week with 10 RBI, and a 1.385 slugging percentage after hitting .462 over the four games.
Freshman Shannon Haddad made three appearances in the circle and did not allow a run, posting a 0.00 ERA over 12.0 innings pitched.
After a two-inning relief appearance against the Highlanders, Haddad pitched a complete game shutout at UC Davis, striking out six Aggies, and then tossed three innings of scoreless relief to close out the series. Over the three outings, Haddad struck out 11 and allowed just eight hits while walking two.
The Beach has now won back-to-back pitcher of the week honors as Kellie White received the award last week. As a team, the Beach leads the Big West with a 1.47 ERA and ranks in the Top 25 nationally.
