No. 17 Beach Suffers Losses to LMU, USC

No. 17 ranked LBSU lost both matches of their tri-dual on Saturday, falling 3-2 to No. 9 Pepperdine and 5-0 to No. 3 USC.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 17 ranked Long Beach State (2-6) had another tough day on Saturday falling 3-2 against No. 7 Loyola Marymount (8-1) and were swept 5-0 by USC (7-0) again.
Mattoon and Rodriguez fell in their dual to give the Lions the first point of the match, but the Beach quickly bounced back as Skyler Germann and Alice Pratesi would come up with a three-set victory to even the score at one. The win marked their sixth win of the season.
Unfortunately, LMU would take the 2's and 3's to secure the dual before Mari Molina and Tyler Spriggs would win their matchup in three sets.
In Long Beach State's second dual of the day, the host Trojans had control from the start eventually sweeping the Beach for the second consecutive time.
The Beach will look to bounce back next week as they host a tri-dual with Utah and Boise State.
