Two Rounds Completed After First Day Of The Gold Rush

Long Beach State bounced back from a slow start with an excellent second round.
SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Eleven teams took part in The Gold Rush this spring, as Long Beach State hosted its first spring event since the spring programs returned to team activities this month. After two rounds, USC tops the team leaderboard by a 17-stroke margin, paced by individual leader Allisen Corpuz.
For Long Beach State, the young Beach squad featured three freshmen and the team got off to a slow start in round one, as sophomore Hunter Pate finished with the lowest score, a 5-over 77.
The Beach fared better in the second round however, as senior Holland Shourds bounced back particularly strong, firing a second-round 73 to finish the day tied for 25th overall, sharing the team lead with Angelina Kim who's second-round 74 was the second best score for the Beach on the day. Pate's first-round carried her into a tie for 40th along with freshman Vanessa Richani, who shot a second-round 77. Chloe Carraway finished off the lineup for the Beach, also shooting 77 in the second round for a tie for 48th.
Overall in the second round, the Beach had the fourth-lowest team round of the day, bested only by the leaders USC in both rounds and UNLV's second round. Elina Saska of UNLV had the low-round of the day, carding a 5-under 67 in the second round, helping the Rebels.
Limited spectators will be allowed to catch the action. Everyone attending the Gold Rush will be required to fill out this Health Screen Questionnaire each day and check in prior to entering the venue. Tips for navigating the questionnaire are below:
