The first of the four meets is the Beach Opener on March 4-5 to open the outdoor season. This will be the third time Long Beach State has opened their outdoor season with the Beach Opener after starting the event in 2018. The meet is two days full of action featuring some of the top talent across the nation including athletes from community colleges, division I universities, as well as elite club and open athletes in the professional ranks.
The second meet at the Jack Rose Track will be the Challenge Cup on April 8. The 27th annual Challenge Cup is a four-way team event featuring the Beach, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbara. This will be the first Challenge Cup since the 2019 season when Long Beach State won the men's title. Overall, LBSU has won 21 of the 27 men's Challenge Cup titles and nine of the women's titles.
The third meet is the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on April 14. The PCI is a one-day event and will once again feature some of the top athletes not only in the nation, but the world. This marks the fifth year of the meet with 2019 representing the last year it happened after COVID caused it to be canceled in both 2020 and 2021.
The fourth and final meet at the Jack Rose Track during the 2022 season is the Beach Invitational on April 15-16. In its 26th year, the Beach Invitational continues to be one of the most prestigious events in the country. Like the PCI, the meet was canceled during the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to COVID-19 but will return to full strength for the upcoming season. The two-day event features thousands of some of the best athletes from all across the globe.
