LBSU Takes on Cal State Fullerton on the Road, Hawaii at Home This Weekend
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team looks to snap a five-match losing streak this week as the take on Cal State Fullerton and Hawaii. The Beach and the Titans will face off on Thursday, November 4 at 7 p.m. at Titan Gym, before LBSU returns home to host the Rainbow Wahine on Saturday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State dropped a pair of three-set matches on the road last week to CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly.
• The Beach are 9-14 overall and 3-9 in Big West action. When playing on the road this season, LBSU is just 1-7 with the lone win coming at CSUN (3-1) on Oct. 9.
• Kashauna Williams continues her hot hitting as she now owns 1,080 career kills to rank 15th in Long Beach State program history. Williams is averaging 4.13 kills per set this season, which leads the Big West and ranks 32nd in the nation. 
• Freshman outside hitter Erykah Lovett has turned in an solid rookie season as she is second on the team with 2.71 kills per set, while her 0.38 aces per set rank her fourth in the Big West. On the year, she is averaging 2.71 digs per set, 0.33 assists per set, and 0.22 blocks per set.
• Sophomore Katie Kennedy has settled in on the right side and is third on the team with 2.44 kills per set on a .242 hitting percentage. The Hood River, Ore., native also contributes 0.79 digs per set and 0.46 blocks per set.
• Senior Miranda Canez continues to lead the Beach in hitting with a .314 attack percentage which is good for sixth in the Big West. Additionally, she is second on the squad with 0.70 blocks per set, while also contributing 1.51 kills per set.
• At setter, Long Beach State has utilized both sophomore Tia Chavira and freshman Kasia Partyka this season. Chavira leads the way with 8.72 assists per set, while Partyka adds 7.97 assists per set.
• Chavira also contributes 2.54 digs per set, 1.07 kills per set, 0.36 blocks per set, and 0.26 aces per set, while hitting .301 on the year.
• Sophomore libero Nicole Hoff has been stout in the back row for the Beach having racked up a total of 321 digs for an average of 3.73 digs per set to rank in the top 10 in the Big West Conference. She also has led the Beach in digs 13 times and has registered double-digit digs in 19 contests.
• At the net freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon has collected 73 total blocks (8 solo, 65 assists) to lead the team with 0.90 blocks. She also contributes 1.06 kills per set on the offensive end.
• Off the bench, Dylan Dela Cruz and Jenna Giambi have been productive for the Beach in the back row contributing 2.16 digs per set and 1.85 digs per set, respectively. Meanwhile, senior outside hitter Avery Nelson has contributed 1.35 kills per set and 1.07 digs per set for LBSU.

Scouting Cal State Fullerton
• Cal State Fullerton is 9-10 on the year with a 6-6 Big West Conference record.
• Last week, the Titans went 1-1 with a 3-2 win at Cal Poly, before dropping a 3-0 contest at CSU Bakersfield
• The Titans are hitting .174 on the year with 13.39 kills per set on 12.65 assists per set.
• Defensively, Cal State Fullerton leads the league with a whopping 20.00 digs per set.
• At the net, the Titans are averaging 1.65 blocks per set.
• Julia Crawford leads the squad with 3.60 kills per set, while Makenna Ala'ilima-Daley' 3.18 kills per set come in second.
• Crawford leads four Titans who average 4.00 digs per set or more on the year. Crawford sets the standard with 4.46 digs per set, while Neena Dimas is hot on her heels with 4.43 digs per set, and Elizabeth Schuster is third with 4.06 digs per set. Lastly, Anna Hawthorne rounds out group with 4.00 digs per set.
• At setter, Schuster sets the tone with 10.65 assists per set.
• Nicole Shuhandler leads the Titans at the net with 0.80 blocks per set as she has posted 11 solo blocks and 46 block assists for a total of 57.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Titans
Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton will meet for the 103rd time in program history and for the second time this season. Overall, the Beach leads the all-time series 96-6 after defeating the Titans earlier this season in straight sets. 

Scouting Hawaii
• Hawaii sits at the top of the Big West standings with an 11-1 league record and a 14-6 overall mark.
• The Rainbow Wahine have won their last three matches with a four-set win over CSUN and a pair of sweeps against UC Davis and UC Riverside.
• As a team, the Rainbow Wahine are hitting .234 with 13.99 kills per set on 13.10 assists per set. The Wahine also average 16.24 digs per set and a league-leading 2.48 blocks per set.
• Offensively, Brooke Van Sickle leads the team with 3.93 kills per set on a .263 attack percentage. She also adds 3.26 digs per set and 0.56 blocks per set.
• Kate Lang and Mylana Byrd split setter duties as Lang averages 10.20 assists per set, while Byrd contributes 8.83 assists per set.
• Defensively, Tayli Ikenaga leads the way with 3.30 digs per set in the back row, while Amber Igiede owns 1.19 blocks per set at the net.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Rainbow Wahine
Long Beach State and Hawaii will face each other for the 58th time in program history and for the second time this season. Overall, the Rainbow Wahine lead the all-time series 34-22-1 and have won the last eight meetings as the Beach are looking to pick up their first win over Hawaii since 2016.
 
A Grand Time
Long Beach State junior outside hitter Kashauna Williams joined elite company as she became the 17th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. Williams now has 1,080 career kills and ranks 15th all-time at the Beach. Williams is just three kills away from taking sole possession of 14th place all-time as she now ranks among Long Beach State legends Tara Cross, Danielle Scott, and Tayyiba Haneef.

You Gotta Lovett
Freshman outside hitter Erykah Lovett has been having a very solid rookie season. The Newnan, Ga., native is second on the squad with 2.71 kills per set. Additionally, Lovett is fourth in the Big West in aces per set with 0.38 after serving up a total of 31 this season so far. Lovett contributes on both sides of the ball as she adds 2.72 digs per set and 0.22 blocks per set.

Can You Dig It?
Sophomore libero Nicole Hoff has been solid in the back row for the Beach racking up 321 digs to average 3.73 digs per set which ranks her in the top 10 in the Big West. Hoff has led Long Beach State in digs in 13 matches and has recorded double-digit digs in 19 contests this season. Joining Hoff in solid defensive performances this are junior Dylan Dela Cruz (2.16 digs per set), sophomore Tia Chavira (2.54 digs per set), and freshman Jenna Giambi (1.85 digs per set).

Helping Hands
Long Beach State has platooned both freshman Kasia Partyka and sophomore Tia Chavira at setter this season. Chavira leads the way with 8.72 assists per set, while Partyka adds 7.97 assists per set. The duo have piloted the Beach to a .221 attack percentage as the team averages 11.84 assists per set. 

Block Party
Freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon continues to set the standard for the Beach at the net. The product out of Fontana, Calif., leads Long Beach State with 73 total blocks (8 solo, 65 block assists) to average 0.90 blocks per set. She recorded a career-high eight blocks against Cal State Fullerton on September 28. Coming in behind Bacon is senior middle blocker Miranda Canez who has recorded 60 total blocks (5 solo, 55 block assists) to average 0.70 blocks per set.

Kashing In
Junior outside hitter Kashauna Williams leads the Beach and the Big West with 4.13 kills per set, an average which ranks her 32nd in the nation. Additionally, Williams contributes 1.02 digs per set and 0.53 blocks per set, while hitting .228. She has led the Beach in kills on 19 occasions, has recorded 20 double-digit kill performances, and has logged six 20-plus kill showings this season. 

Kennedy Kills It
Sophomore outside hitter/opposite Katie Kennedy has been killing it as of late. The Hood River, Ore., native has earned the start on the right side in the last 14 matches and is now third on the squad with 2.44 kills per set. In addition, Kennedy also owns a 0.79 digs per set average to go along with 0.46 blocks per set. 

Next Up
Long Beach State hosts CSUN and UC Santa Barbara at the Walter Pyramid on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13, respectively. Both matches are set to start at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Matt Brown on the call.
