FULLERTON, Calif. –
Everything was working for the Beach on Thursday night at Titan Gym. Long Beach State hit .339 as they snapped a five-match losing streak with a 3-0 [25-20, 25-20, 25-14] win over Cal State Fullerton.

Long Beach State (10-14, 4-9 Big West) played well on both sides of the ball as the Beach led Cal State Fullerton (9-11, 6-7 Big West) in attack percentage (.339 to .140), assists (50 to 22), aces (4 to 1), and digs (58 t0 41). The Titans narrowly held the edge 4.0 to 3.0 in blocks over LBSU.

"I really liked the way we won tonight," said Interim Head Coach Sabrina Hernandez. "It was a team win. Everyone contributed in different ways. The coaching staff is really proud of this team."

The Beach got things started by shaking up the starting lineup as Hernandez sent Miranda Canez (MB), Tia Chavira (S), Kailia Lopez (OH/DS), Katie Kennedy (OPP), Erykah Lovett (OH), Jenna Giambi (DS), and Nicole Hoff (L) to the court to start the match. It was the first-career starts for Lopez and Giambi.

Kennedy, Williams, and Lovett led the offensive attack as Kennedy and Williams each tallied 16 kills. Kennedy's 16-kill performance tied her career high and the sophomore right side led the way with a .438 attack percentage. Williams, meanwhile, recorded her 21-st double-figure kill showing of the year while hitting .357.

Lovett concluded the match with a double-double (10 kills, 13 digs) to register her team-leading ninth double-double of the season. She also added a pair of assists, and an ace, while hitting .250.

Chavira did a solid job setting a balanced offense as she distributed 38 assists en route to recording her 1,000th career assist. She also added six digs, three kills, one ace, and one block on the night.

While the offense clicked, so did the defense. Giambi finished the match with 13 digs in the back row, while Hoff added 10 for her 20th double-digit dig showing of the season. Additionally, Canez put up three blocks at the net, while also recording four kills on 10 errorless swings for a .400 attack percentage.

With a new starting lineup on the court, Long Beach State opened the first set with a 6-0 run to break an early 2-2 tie forcing a timeout by the Titans. The Beach led the rest of the way, despite several solid runs by Cal State Fullerton. The Titans managed to whittle the Beach's lead down to two (21-19), but LBSU was unfazed as they stepped on the gas and surged ahead to take the first set, 25-20.

The second set saw the Titans take an early 7-2 lead over the Beach. However, Long Beach State showed its grit and fought back to pull within one point on several occasions before using a 4-0 run to take a 16-14 lead over the Titans. Following a few ties, LBSU broke a 19-19 tie on a kill from Kennedy which sparked another 4-0 run to put the Beach up 23-19. Dylan Dela Cruz came off the bench to serve and came in clutch as she won the second set with an ace, 25-20.

Leading two sets to none, Long Beach State turned in its best showing in the third set. The Beach hit .366 and jumped out in front early on a 6-0 run to take a 7-2 lead over Cal State Fullerton. The Titans would use s 4-0 run of their own to cut the Beach's lead down to one (7-6), but a timeout by the Beach allowed Long Beach State to regroup and refocus as they came out of the break in action and rattle off a pair of 5-0 runs to open up a 19-10 advantage over Fullerton. From there, LBSU cruised ahead and secured the sweep with a 25-14 victory.

Cal State Fullerton was led by Haley Carmo who knocked down eight kills on a .316 attack percentage to go along with three blocks, while setter Elizabeth Schuster concluded the match with 20 assists and eight digs. Julia Crawford tallied seven kills and eight digs.

Long Beach State returns home to host Hawaii on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Walter Pyramid. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
