
Shorthanded Women’s Golf Ends Busy Early Stretch With 7th Place Finish At Aggie Invitational

Limited to four players due to injury, the Beach still took seventh place out of 20 teams at the Aggie Invitational.
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Limited to four players due to injury, Long Beach State continued their consistent play and closed out the Aggie Invitational with a tie for seventh place among the 20 team field.
The Beach held on to their Top 10 finish despite playing for the second straight day with four members after Hannah Ko was forced to withdraw Tuesday with a shoulder injury.
Sophomore Angelina Kim had the lowest counting round of the day for Long Beach State, a one-over 73 while Hunter Pate carded a 74, closing out the tournament +7 and finishing as one of LBSU's low scorers over three rounds in a tie for 24th. Chloe Carraway shot 75 Wednesday to also finish +7, while Vanessa Richani had a 76 in the final round. All four players finished in the top 40 to lead the Beach to their share of seventh place.
Meanwhile, true freshman Kristina Ponomareva concluded her impressive collegiate debut as an individual. Hitting four birdies on the day on the way to finish with a one-under 71, Ponomareva was the top individual in the field and finished in a tie for 17th place overall in the 104 competitor field.
The Aggie Invitational marked the third tournament in as many weeks for Long Beach State Women's Golf. The team will now have a break before closing out fall competition at The Clash at Boulder Creek from October 24-26 at the end of the month.
