No. 14 LBSU will face No. 9 Pepperdine, No. 10 Stetson, No. 15 South Carolina and No. 8 LMU.
LONG BEACH, Calif.—Long Beach State (3-0) will travel to Zuma Beach to face a trio of ranked teams on Saturday before heading to Los Angeles for a tri-dual on Sunday.
Pepperdine will be hosting a Saturday tournament at Zuma Beach featuring a few of the nation's top-ranked teams. The Beach will begin the weekend against No. 10 Stetson (6-3) at 10 a.m. The Hatters are off to a good start this season with three ranked wins led by seniors Carly Perales and Helland-Hansen at the No. 1 pairing.
The Beach will then face off with No. 15 South Carolina (3-5) at 12:30 p.m. who are just coming off a key win against No. 5 USC this past weekend. LBSU will finish Saturday's matches against No. 9 Pepperdine (0-2) at 1:45 p.m.
LBSU will play again Sunday morning in a tri-dual facing host, LMU (3-2), at 11 a.m. and Stetson (6-3) at 1:30 p.m. in Los Angeles, Calif.
"I am very excited to see the team compete this weekend," said head coach Mike Campbell. "We have a great opportunity to compete against three Top 10 teams and one team inside the Top 20. Playing five matches in one weekend presents a huge physical challenge and adding the cerebral layer of strategy against that many top teams, our entire lineup will be put to the test."
We have had a great week of practice and we have focused a ton of effort on preparation. I am hopeful that our training up until this point will speak for itself and we will end the weekend with some great results."
Holding down the No. 1 spot for the Beach are Senior Tyler Spriggs and Junior Mari Molina who went 3-0 this weekend, sweeping their opponents in two sets each.
