Beach Tennis Drops San Diego State, 4-1

Long Beach State picked up another home victory on Saturday afternoon, topping the Aztecs of San Diego State, 4-1. The win marks the 15th consecutive victory for the Beach over SDSU.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State (2-1) took care of business in its lone match of the week, topping San Diego State (2-2) by a 4-1 margin on Saturday afternoon at Rhodes Tennis Center. The Beach has now beaten the Aztecs in each of the last 15 seasons.
LBSU started the day off with the doubles point, as the No. 2 and No. 3 spots were both 6-3 winners. At the top of the lineup, Natalia Munoz and Zara Lennon were up 5-3 in their game when the point was clinched.
In singles, it was the bottom half of the Long Beach lineup that secured the clinching points for victory. Lalita Devarakonda moved to 3-0 on the dual match season with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot. Lennon also won in straight sets at No. 5, going 7-6 (2), 6-1. Wiktoria Rutkowska closed things out at NO. 4 with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory for the Beach.
LBSU will host a pair of matches next weekend, first against Oregon at 2 p.m. on Friday, then against Saint Mary's at 11 a.m. Saturday.
