Long Beach State In Third After Two Rounds At The Gold Rush

The hosts are among the leaders with Sophomore Hannah Ko leading the team after 36 holes.
SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State was among the leaders after the opening day at the 2020 Gold Rush, sitting third in a field of 13 with a two-round score of 596. The Beach has a three-stroke lead on Charlotte after the opening day, and will be aiming to remain in the podium positions after the final round at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.
Sophomore Hannah Ko was consistent for the Beach while leading the way on Monday, shooting two consecutive rounds of 73 to finish the day two-over par in a tie for eighth overall. Senior Holland Shourds was a stroke behind, carding an excellent two-under 70 in round one before shooting a 77 in the afternoon.
Maria Davis rebounded from a first round 77 to shoot a 74 in the second round, feasting on Hole 16 on the day with an eagle in the first round and a birdie in the second. Hunter Pate tied for 31st overall after another big second round recovery, shooting a 73 after a first round 80 while Euna Pak rounded out the lineup with a 160 over two rounds, tied for 59th.
Among the individuals, Georgia's Celeste Dao was the star of the day, finishing both rounds under par to lead the tournament at 3-under. Vanessa Richani was the top individual for the Beach, posting back-to-back rounds of 82.
Georgia holds a one-stroke lead over Fresno State in the team competition at 6-over par, while Long Beach State is in third, three strokes ahead of Charlotte and Sacramento State who currently stand tied for fourth place.
