Women’s Golf In Tie For Sixth Overall After Two Rounds At Rebel Beach Intercollegiate

Long Beach State’s return to action for the spring concludes with one final round Tuesday.

LAS VEGAS – Senior Euna Pak recorded five birdies on the way to a 4-under 68 in the second round leading the way for Long Beach State after the first day of the Rebel Beach Intercollegiate. The tournament is being held at Spanish Trail Country Club where the Beach will host the Big West Championships this April.
 
                After two rounds, Long Beach State ended up tied with a Big West foe in UC Irvine at 19-over 595 in sixth place, one stroke behind co-hosts UNLV in fifth place. No. 3 USC led the way Monday, 17 strokes under par at 558 with the three top individual scores on the day.
 
                Pak was the leading golfer for the Beach on the day, closing out the day 18th overall after an outstanding four-under par 68, bouncing back well after a first round 78. Fellow senior Holland Shourds was the top scorer for the Beach in the opening round, finishing with a 1-over 73 before a second round of 77, ending the day 6-over in a tie for 31st.
 
                Hannah Ko and Maria Davis both finished tied for 35th, one stroke behind Shourds as Ko was consistent on the day, finishing three-over in the first round and four-over in the second, while Davis bounced back from a bad hole in the opening round to card a one-over par 73 in the second round.
 
                Sophomore Hunter Pate closed out the day fifth among Long Beach State's five counting players, rebounding from a first-round 80 with a 74 in round two.
 
                Also competing were three individuals for Long Beach State. Freshman Chloe Carraway also showed improvement from the first round to the second, finishing in a tie for 45th with a 9-over 53, same as sophomore Morgan Polley. Vanessa Richani also competed as an individual for the Beach, closing the day 13-over.
 
                The Rebel Beach Intercollegiate will close with one final round Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. in Spanish Trail Golf Course.
