LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A trip to Las Vegas and the Big West Conference Championship host course of Spanish Trail Country Club gave the Beach a solid start to the spring season in the one-day tuneup Monday.

Playing one round with a partner in a two-person best ball format, seniors Maria Davis and Euna Pak came away with the lowest round of the day, shooting a 66 overall to lead the way among the four participating schools and 14 pairs on the day.

Senior Holland Shourds teamed with sophomore Morgan Polley, and the duo finished with a score of 67, tying sophomore Hannah Ko and freshman Vanessa Richiani for the next-best mark on the day, giving the Beach the three low scores for the day.

Chloe Carraway and Hunter Pate rounded out the scores for the Beach with a 74. Nebraska was the closest competitor to the Beach on Monday, with Smith/Baete finishing two strokes behind Davis/Pak with a 68, while Thiele /Ahmed of the Huskers shot 69 to also finish under par on the day.

Long Beach State will head back out to Vegas to continue competitive play in a couple of weeks, co-hosting the Rebel Beach Invitational which will also be contested at Spanish Trail.
